Sometimes in our lives we encounter roadblocks-- some spiritual, others physical. Roadblocks are easy to recognize. The difficulty is in knowing what to do about them.

Some Jeep owners have a playful upside down sign on their windshield. "If you can read this, roll me over." That sign always makes me chuckle. But there is another upside down sign from centuries ago that has a much darker meaning. Low down in the Elbe River in the Czech Republic, near the town of Decin, is a river stone engraved in upside down writing-- "Wenn du mich siehst, dann weine." (When you see me, then weep.) Famine was coming.

Do you know what storm surge is? We have a saying here in the hurricane zone. "Hide from wind, run from water." When a hurricane comes ashore, the strong offshore winds pile up the water up ahead of the storm. This is what kills most people in hurricanes-- storm surge.

How about this-- turn off the TV and talk to people. Share your faith. Express your opinion instead of hiding.

So maybe God has you stranded or detained... Take a deep breath and wait. See what God will do.

As a believer, his mandate is now mine also; to bind up the brokenhearted, proclaim freedom for the captives, and to comfort those who mourn.

A storm is coming and the water is already rising. Get right with God, and then find yourself a battle buddy.

Shaking is coming. It is a rocky road ahead, and a spiritual lane-change is going to be required of us.

Sometimes God reveals his character by telling us one of his names. But SOMETIMES... we create our own names for God as we encounter Him.

Maybe you are in despair right now. Find a crying place. Find a place to get alone with God and cry it out... then find someone to sit with.

When Jesus says "I am the bread of life," a Russian or Azeri really pricks up their ears. That statement has MEANING for them.

Maybe you have felt stuck like this for YEARS. But what if it's a divine set-up?

Crawfish remind me of little worms in armor... yet a hiding place was still provided.

May God lead each of us to someone who needs comfort... even if just for a moment.

So what is to be done? What can YOU do? Donate. Volunteer. Show up. Be present.

Maybe, like Elijah, you are sitting alone in the darkness...
