Maybe God has you waiting... It might be a long light, but the light will change in the programmed sequence.

God is a master craftsman and is working behind the scenes to make us into something beautiful.

So maybe God has you stranded or detained... Take a deep breath and wait. See what God will do.

So, how good are you at camping-- at considering your life and situation temporary?

Is it a problem for us to solve, or is it a God-problem-- like making crops grow?

God took me on a significant detour last year... But it wasn't just a detour; it was a side quest. A holy mission.

That road ended sharply and was blocked off for my safety. The sign had a big arrow. It was a detour sign.

God was telling me that he was cooking something up for me-- something good!-- but it wasn't done cooking yet.

Sometimes God has us on a mission... and it's invigorating! But there are other times when God calls us away... to a Holy Pause.

God doesn't tell us everything. He doesn't show us all the pieces, because He wants us to trust.

Lost? Alone? Feel that it's too late for you? Ask God to move anyway.

Often God has us waiting, whether it's for fulfillment of promises, answers, or simply for further instructions.

Oh boy! Waiting! And then God showed me a big waiting room at a Doctor's Office...

As I thought about this post, God showed me a man in a straight-jacket. It was the extra-strong arrangement where hands were not only secured with straps, but they were also secured with chains behind his back. I'm sure this man didn't like it much, but he was restrained until released. He may have had big plans for the day, but this was his reality, and it was totally out of his control. Also, it was for his protection!

This morning God showed me something I didn't like. Sigh. A scene of tranquility. Of Resting. He showed me a view from my recliner in front of a window. Outside the window was a winter scene, of a snow covered landscape, deep in drifts. There was also a tree, beautifully iced with big clumps of snow. Bright sunlight, very Currier and Ives. There may have been a lake in the distance. My feet were up, and they were wrapped in a blanket. I was resting...

Friends, we usually think of the desert as a place of pain. As a kind of punishment. A lonely place. But... that's not what the Desert is for. It's for intimacy. Hosea 2:14-15 (NIV) reads: "Therefore I am now going to allure her; I will lead her into the desert and speak tenderly to her. There I will give her back her vineyards, and will make the Valley of Achor [trouble] a door of Hope." Has God led you into the desert? Embrace it. It's a privilege, not a punishment...

This morning I was turning some things over in my mind that God has been showing me-- things I didn't understand (and still don't.) I was asking God about timing, and he showed me a scene from The Voyage of the Dawn Treader (the C.S. Lewis book, not the terrible movie.) He showed me the lion Aslan and the girl Lucy having an intimate conversation off in the distance. "Please Aslan," asked Lucy, "What do you call soon?" "I call all times soon..."

A few days ago, I noticed that God had stopped talking to me about a long-term concern, and I was asking Him "Why was that?" In response, God showed me two workmen, stage hands, carrying a curtain across the stage, blocking my view... God was telling me that, for His purposes, I was not allowed to watch while the stage was being set for the next Act. My job was to sit my butt in the chair and wait. I also noticed that the curtain wasn't lowered from the ceiling, indicating th
