The Desert

I have opened to this passage three times today (so far?), so maybe I should share it! It is Jeremiah 29:13-14, in The Message:

"When you come looking for me, you'll find me. Yes, when you get serious about finding me and want it more than anything else, I'll make sure you won't be disappointed." GOD'S Decree.

Further on, in Jeremiah 31: 2-3:

They found grace out in the desert,

these people who survived the killing.

Israel, out looking for a place to rest,

met God out looking for them!

GOD told them, "I've never quit loving you and never will. Expect love, love, and more love!

Friends, we usually think of the desert as a place of pain. As a kind of punishment. A lonely place. But... that's not what the Desert is for. It's for intimacy. Hosea 2:14-15 NIV reads:

Therefore I am now going to allure her; I will lead her into the desert and speak tenderly to her.

There I will give her back her vineyards, and will make the Valley of Achor [trouble] a door of Hope.

Has God led you into the desert? Embrace it. It's a privilege, not a punishment. May your desert bloom as you diligently seek Him!
